Thoroughbreds in Equine Assisted Services: recommendations for best practices and incorporation
Claire Neveux is a longstanding and respected member of the international horse breeding community, having worked in several countries and managing her family Thoroughbred farm in Normandy (France) for the past 15 years. Returning to Normandy from these years of experience abroad and wishing to play an active and meaningful role in the advancement in horse centred approaches across the equine world, Claire read a Master’s degree in animal behaviour science at the University of Sorbonne-Paris, France. Shortly after graduation she established her own equine scientific agency, Ethonova, in 2011 to focus on the horse, its behaviour and the horse-human relationship. Today Ethonova is a widely recognised and well-referenced agency for the French equine industry, working with leading private and governmental institutions, brands and across all equine industry sectors - with over 12 years of research projects on horse behaviour and welfare with an excellent track record of implementation from science to good practice. In 2021 Claire began her Doctorate / PhD at leading British Veterinary school, The University of Bristol to work on a joint project with UK-based charity Racing To Relate on a study entitled: “Selection, training and welfare of Thoroughbreds in Equine Assisted Services Programmes.”
