Description
Let’s Do Creative Arts: Expanding EFL/EFP Programs with Experiential Learning
is an interactive session providing a brief overview of creative arts and experiential practices in various educational, equine-assisted activities and personal growth sessions. The research basis of this presentation will draw from the current literature on how the arts transform humans beings in area of mental health, learning and communication.
The presenter, Dr. Terry Chase will share an eclectic and integrated variety of tools and activities that can readily be put into practice. The sampler of activities will inspire EFL/EFP practitioners to include creative art practices, individual and group communication skills in their teaching and facilitation. This overview includes activities that have been utilized in a variety of FFL programs developed by the presenter. The session will also address accessible activities for participants of all abilities and provide resources for continued exploration.
Presenter Bio:
Unique in her field, Dr. Terry Chase offers a deep and multi-faceted background of advanced education and hands-on experience in healthcare. Dr. Chase is retired as Associate Professor of Nursing-Mental Health/Leadership at Colorado Mesa University, Grand Junction, Colorado.Currently, Terry is a professional coach offering individual coaching and group experiences for growth and transformation. Since 2010 she has created and facilitated multiple Equine-Assisted Learning programs for adults and children with disability, healthcare leadership teams, nursing students and individuals seeking personal growth through working with horses.
Terry is trained in an eclectic blend of theory and hands-on practice in the field of Equine-Assisted Learning, including the Certified Equine Interaction-Education (CEIP-Ed) status obtained through rigorous training and continued education requirements.
Dr. Chase is a self-motivated, highly educated individual who has lived fully with spinal cord injury for 30 years active in all things outdoors, including kayaking, cross-country skiing, hand-cycling and whenever possible, riding horses.
