Join us on May 15, 2025 at 7:00pm (EST) for our webinar: Occupational Therapy Integrating Horses for Autistic Youth : A Case Example of Multi-phase Intervention Development and Testing in EAS Dr. Caiti Peters and her team have been working with an autism advisory board composed of autistic self-advocates or caregivers or autistic children to ensure our research practices are neurodiverse-affirming. One of the biggest recommendations that board has made is to use identity-first language (autistic youth/autistic children) instead of person-first language (children with autism). There’s a lot of discourse on the topic, and its definitely an ongoing debate, see here for one of the most-cited papers https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/full/10.1089/aut.2020.0014.
