Join this session about one center’s experience implementing the Man O War project (https://mowproject.org/). This conversation will reflect on the evolution of our veterans program and decision to offer the Project, the intentional integration of the project, and findings from Veterans including program evaluation feedback. participation. We will also share the future direction of our veterans programming. In sharing our experience we aim to support other EAS programs considering the Project and furthering research about EAS Veteran programming impact.
Presenter bio: Aviva Vincent, PhD, LSW earned her doctoral degree from Case Western Reserve University, Veterinary Social Work Certificate from the University of Tennessee, a fellowship with Animals in Society, and trained at The Institute for Interdisciplinary Salivary Bioscience Research's “spit camp”. She is an Assistant Professor of social work at Syracuse University and an instructor in the Veterinary Social Work and Veterinary Human Support Certificate Program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her research interest includes exploring the physiological impact of the human-animal bond. Her background in veterinary social work informs her practice as the Director of Program Quality at Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She is co-founder and owner of Healing Paws LLC, the only VSW practice in Northeast Ohio.
